Present Moment Awareness

Becoming aware of the present moment is effortless. Awareness is always available, right now. It exists between the lines of thought about the past and future. It is the gateless gate, a threshold that requires no effort to cross, except the willingness to let go. There is nothing preventing awareness from experiencing the present moment except identification with thought.

The thinking mind can never truly experience the timeless now because it exists in delay, always a step behind. This is how experience unfolds: an external stimulus such as light reflecting off an object reaches the eye, which then sends signals to the brain. The brain translates and interprets the information, and only then do thoughts, feelings, and emotions arise in response. Though this happens almost instantly, it is a process, and the thinking mind is always the last to know.

You are not looking out through your eyes as if peering through binoculars. The present moment is inherently thoughtless pure absorption of what is. Whether you are aware of it or not, you are always in the present. However, when you identify with the thinking mind, you become lost in its judgments, sacrificing direct experience for interpretation. In doing so, you remain in the present, yet perceive only the past.

This is a fallen state identification with the lower, limited self, bound by duality and lack. Your true nature is awareness itself boundless, formless, holy, and infinite. In this state, there is no judgment, no resistance only the effortless unfolding of what is.
